Cultural Etiquette
Each month we will give you one important tip to
help you avoid embarrassing gaffes!
Chinese business
Examine any business cards you receive for a few
moments. Introduce your colleagues and allow guests
to introduce themselves. Use both hands when presenting
business cards and ensure that the writing on the
card is facing the recipient. Cards should be received
with both hands and placed on the table in front of
you - to immediately put the card in your pocket or
bag is considered offensive · and you should
look at the cards occasionally throughout the meeting.

Have you considered a cultural briefing session to

European Language Portfolio
This is a portable document that enables the adult
language learner to record their past achievements
and track their current progress against UK and European
language levels.
The portfolio consists of three sections. The Passport
provides a compact and readily usable "language
CV". The Language Biography enables you
to record in more detail experience of languages and
intercultural insights you may have acquired. The
Dossier contains tangible proof of your competence
including formal qualifications.
